Lindsay and Cody Hummell, of Southport, NC, were married at The Barn on July 9, 2016. The casual country chic ceremony was held at our main ceremony site with 100 of their closest friends and family in attendance. Her grandfather, Pastor Bill Wrenn, officiated the ceremony in a way that only the grandfather of the bride could. It was a touching ceremony and the pride and happiness that Pastor Bill felt was palpable. The reception was elegant with it’s simplicity. Cody was in the military and to pay homage to his service there were American flags scattered about outside. We would like to thank this young couple for allowing The Barn at Rock Creek the opportunity to host and plan their wedding, and to thank Cody for his service to our country.

Upon meeting Craig and Taylor we realized that we had very good mutual friends. The first meeting about the wedding was probably 20% about the wedding and 80% about road trips and life experiences. We had an instant connection. In all of our time working with Bride and Grooms we have never encountered a more laid back couple. Craig and Taylor’s main focus was enjoying their guests, their wedding day, and sincerely soaking it all in. The decor was simple yet elegant, using geodes and crystal with dried sage and lavender to adorn the tables. The bride’s father, Dan Chapman, made the table numbers out of unfinished wood that paired perfectly with the other elemental decor. Our favorite part of this wedding (if we have to pick one) is the story about Craig, who is the co-owner of Wagon Werks, working tirelessly on his fathers ’64 Chevy, that he used to get dropped off at school in. After spending at least 40+ hours working on it he finally had it ready to roll on their wedding day. It was the perfect getaway car for these two free spirits to begin their happily ever after.

Taylor was absolutely adorable and a pleasure to work with. When telling her engagement story you could see the twinkle in her eyes. We loved her vision for her wedding and knew when we met that The Barn would be the perfect place for her and Zach to make it a reality. From the farm tables and antique farm chairs rented from Party Suppliers to the Carolina Sundae’s in mason jars that Pine Valley had prepared for their guests. The eclectic grouping of china that The Barn has on hand worked in perfect unison with the birch wood logs that Eco Chic filled with natural greenery accented with roses, yarrow, peonies, and snap dragons. The aisle to the arbor was lined with grape vine ball pew markers filled with white hydrangea, peach spray roses and willow eucalyptus, Taylor was stunning in her wedding gown from The Wedding Dress Shoppe flanked by her breathtaking bridesmaids donning their best cowgirl boots. This girl obviously knew a thing or two about how to plan a country chic wedding.
Mike + Tiffany

Mike and I have been friends since high school, so I was elated when he snagged a bride to be as amazing as Tiffany. He actually informed me ahead of time that he was going to pop the question and have Erin Costa lurking in the bushes with a camera to capture the moment. The photo that Erin snapped was heartwarming, the look on Tiffany’s face with Mike down on one knee truly shows the emotion of that moment. I was overjoyed when they called me a few weeks later to catch up over some cocktails and discuss having their wedding at The Barn!!!! I was thrilled to share any info or insight I had, and quite possibly overwhelmed them with information, oops. The wedding day was absolutely gorgeous, the weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding. There was no humidity and the sun was shining. Mike and Tiffany decided to rent the Groom’s quarters and Bridal suites upstairs for them and their wedding parties to don their best duds and get all dolled up for the big day. You could tell this wedding party was a small, fun, tight knight group from the laughter that was pouring down the stairs as all the preparations were happening. The decor was simple and elegant. Every minute detail was thought of and executed with such graceful simplicity. The navy and silver linens from L&L Rentals were complimented by the bright white hydrangeas centerpieces by Eco Chic Blossoms. I can’t say enough about what a difference the lighting made with the whole feel of The Barn. Wilmington Uplighting helped create such a romantic ambiance by the soft spotlighting on the Bride & Groom table and the cake table. The monogram that was projected onto the wall was quite possibly one of my favorite details to date. My husband and I actually got to sit back and attend this wedding while Melissa and her team with Knot Too Shabby Events took the reins and pulled off a romantic and memorable wedding day for two of my closest friends. Thank you Mike & Tiffany for sharing your day with us at The Barn.
